Gameday follows every MLB game on today's schedule as it is played. Pick a game from the strip at the top of the page and the commentary box starts calling it pitch by pitch, with the count, the runners on base, the score and each team's hits, walks and strikeouts kept up to date beside the words. It's free to use and you don't need an account.
The commentary is written from MLB's pitch-by-pitch data feed. Every at-bat is called from the first pitch to the result, then the score and where the runners stand, and each half-inning closes with a short summary of what happened in it. Season numbers stay in the panels instead of interrupting the play. The hitter's average, on-base percentage and slugging sit in the At the plate panel, and the pitcher's line for the day is under On the mound. If you only want the big moments, switch the box from Full to Key moments, and Go Live takes you straight back to the current pitch if you've fallen behind.
Under the commentary is every scoring play of the game, with the inning and the score after it. The full play by play is folded away under its own header; open it to read each plate appearance, latest inning first. Both batting orders are listed with each player's position, season average, OPS, home runs and RBI, along with how he has done at the plate today, and the man currently batting is highlighted.
Two of the numbers on this page are our own. TBA9 counts the bases a pitcher allows per nine innings, with a single worth one base, a double two, a triple three, a home run four and a walk one. TBA9− puts that on a scale where 100 is the baseline and lower is better, so a starter at 80 gives up about a fifth fewer bases than baseline. TBO9 measures hitters the same way on the bases they produce per game, stolen bases included, and TBO9+ uses the same 100 scale with higher being better.
For each game we set one team's lineup against the other team's rotation and rank both from 1 to 30. A rotation is every pitcher who has made a start in the last 15 days, with openers listed but not counted, and a lineup is the nine hitters with the most plate appearances over those same days. The figures are recalculated daily, so what you see is the rotation a club is using now rather than the one it opened the season with.

Our season model's win probability for each side is there as well. It stays at the foot of the page once the game is under way, next to a comparison of the two clubs across 16 hitting and pitching categories.
